Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish in Kensington High Street Review & Swatches

Nails Inc. Kensington High Street

I was in Sephora when I spotted the new Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish. These polishes promise a gel nail effect without the use of UV light. The bottles totes 'plasticiser technology' and a plumping effect. I was not expecting much from this polish as many companies have tried to come out with at home versions of gel nails, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The formula of this polish is fantastic, it glided on smoothly and I achieved full opacity at two coats. The brush was a little stiffer and flatter than traditional Nails Inc. polishes, but this did not negatively impact application. Even without a top coat, my nails were very shiny. As for the plumping effect, I did find that it camouflaged any ridges or imperfections in my nails, which was a nice surprise.

The only downside is that they are currently only available in four colors:

  • St. James (bright red)
  • Porchester Square (dove grey - also available in their regular polish line)
  • Bond Street (bright blue purple)
  • Kensington High Street (deep mulberry)

Kensington High Street is a deep mulberry that indoors pulls a deep burgundy somewhat similar to Chanel Rouge Noir, but in light has a nice berry tone. It retails for $17 at Sephora.
